As a second step to UX wireframes I created for the Cosmetic Database app, these are examples of the UI and visual design. The visual theme was influenced by relaxing, healthy environments like organic spas, yoga studios and the cosmetic aisles at natural stores like Whole Foods and Lois Naturals. 

While the UX wireframing started as a class semester project at General Assembly, the visual design of this app was created as a side project from home in hopes of building interest in actually creating the app. 

This app design project was created as a solution to finding healthy cosmetics.

The user can quickly scan the barcode on a product like soap or shampoo. Once scanned, the app brings you to a page that tells you if the product is chemically safe and healthy- or not. The app is also customizable for the user and can help people with specific illnesses, like asthma and allergies, find products that are safe for them. 

Research included surveys, interviews and persona builds to discover what influences someone's buying behavior for cosmetics. Initial phases included site mapping and discovering a smooth process for quickly searching a product's chemical rating. Also included are basic wireframes and site planning for creating the app.

This is a small sample of my hand drawn illustration work. Some have won a few Creative Circus school awards. Some have won nothing but a spot on the kitchen fridge.
